Oscar Reyna, Texas A&M International University registrar, has been elected treasurer of a statewide organization of university and college registrars and admissions officers.

At its recent Austin meeting, TACRAO, the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, confirmed its election of Reyna.

Reyna joined TAMIU in 2004.

As registrar, he is part of the University’s Division of Student Success, and has helped lead the University to record enrollments, including this Fall’s enrollment of 4,917, a whopping 14.4 percent increase over last Fall’s enrollment. The University’s Semester Credit Hours (SCH), upon which state funding is based, were also up an impressive 13.5 percent over Fall 2005.

Prior to joining the University, he was at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) for seven years as assistant registrar and assistant director of admissions.

Originally from Corpus Christi, he holds BBA and MS degrees from TAMUK.

Reyna said the election was an honor and he is looking forward to serving TACRAO.

“I’m very much honored to be selected by this group of respected peers and leaders in our profession. TACRAO membership has been extremely beneficial for us and I’m looking forward to helping the organization to continue its success and service,” Reyna said.

In addition to admissions officers and registrars, the statewide organization includes enrollment managers from public and private colleges and universities across the state.

The group is dedicated to contributing to the advancement of higher education.

As well as state and national trends in enrollment management, topics the group has addressed are issues in core curriculum, TSI information and academic fraud.
