Essentials of Project Management this Weekend at TAMIU

Learn the essentials of project management with a non-credit certificate course at Texas A&M International University. The course is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 12 from 7 – 9 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 13 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall, room 219.

Course fee is $199 per participant.

The class, offered by the College of Business Administration’s division of international business and technology studies, aims to teach the essentials in managing a project and explain how to successfully implement a project as a project manager and as a project member. The course will describe some of the techniques needed to successfully control the project and discuss real world examples that help identify certain problems that exist in managing a project.

Main topics covered include: introduction to project management, understanding organizations, project plan development, understanding key elements of a project, managing project risks, project time management, Gantt chart and project network diagrams.

Students will also receive hands-on experience in using Microsoft Project Software to manage their projects. If students have any issues with their projects, it will be discussed in class.

This non-credit course is targeted for business students, project members, project managers, professionals and entrepreneurs looking for techniques for greater success in their projects.

The class will be taught by Prasad Vemala, a Ph.D. student at TAMIU’s College of Business Administration. He holds a BE in computer science and engineering, an MS in computer science and an MBA in management information systems. He has conducted Web training classes and presented at several conferences.
