Third Annual KLRN Women’s Health Conference Saturday

After two successful years, KLRN, in partnership with Texas A&M International University, will hold its Third Annual Women’s Health Conference at TAMIU, Saturday, Jan. 20 at the TAMIU Student Center from 8:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

The KLRN Laredo Women's Health Conference is designed to empower women with knowledge to help them make informed choices about their health, family, career, finances, connections and success. Chairperson for the event is Frances Salinas and honorary chairperson is Diane Gates.

Conference admission is $30 and includes a full day of informative speakers and breakout sessions, health screenings, a continental breakfast, a formal luncheon and a gift bag.

This year’s Keynote speaker will be Dr. Vivian Bucay, board certified dermatologist and Texas Monthly Magazine’s 2004 Texas Super Doctor.

Also, the 2007 Honorees are Martha Martínez, certified women’s health care nurse practitioner and pre-natal care giver and Dr. Jane Unzeitig, allergy and asthma specialist for adults and children and medical missionary.

During the breakout sessions, national and local speakers will address women's health topics including sleep disorders, heart disease, sexual health, women’s bladder issues, diabetes, foot care, financial health, yoga benefits and other topics.

In 2005, KLRN was awarded the PBS Development Award for Special Fundraising Events for their market size and the Award of Excellent for the Best Overall Special Fundraising Event for the inaugural Laredo Women’s Health Conference.
