Texas A&M International University president Dr. Ray Keck has been featured in the national education magazine The Greentree Gazette.

Dr. Keck is interviewed by Arlene Satchell, Gazette editor, in the January 2007 edition.

The interview, for the regular section “From the President,” is titled “Down on the Border with Ray Keck: Ray Keck is on a mission to spread higher education to the underserved of South Texas.”

The three-page interview focuses on the challenges of higher education in South Texas, Keck’s leadership style and his enthusiasm for community collaborations.

It also shares his continued scholarly pursuits and provides insight into his love of teaching, noting, “I want to get students fired up by a dream, a hunger. I want this University to do for them what mine did for me – to awaken a passion they did not know they had.”

The Greentree Gazette magazine covers the people, campuses and companies that are making business news in higher education.

The Florida-based print and electronic publication tracks campus finance and makes sense of information technology, student services and enrollment management. Readers are executives and managers on thousands of U.S. and Canadian campuses, as well as those in commercial and government organizations.
