Non-Credit Web Programming Course at TAMIU April 14

A background in computer programming is no longer necessary to promote your business on the Web with “Web Programming for Non-programmers,” a non-credit course offered by Texas A&M International University’s College of Business Administration scheduled for Saturday, April 14.

Register soon; seating is limited. Course fee is $199. Registration forms are available by calling Cindy Martínez, program coordinator, at 326.2486 or e-mailing cindy@tamiu.edu

Registration will also be held Saturday, April 14 at 7:30 a.m. Course starts at 8 a.m. Lunch break is from 12 – 1 p.m. and the class resumes from 1 – 5 p.m.

Class meets in the Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall, room 219.

The class is designed for business professionals with no computer programming background. Participants will have the opportunity to create interactive Web pages from scratch, including database access and interaction.

Main topics covered include: introduction to Web programming, Web forms and applications, Web matrix and visual programming, creating user interfaces, connecting to databases, security, testing your application and sources and help using the Internet.

When completed, participants will have access to tools and help from Internet experts.

This course is designed for managers, professionals and business owners eager to jumpstart their Web programming. Students majoring in business are encouraged to take this course because it provides an understanding of basic Web programming.

Participants are expected to have basic computer knowledge, but do not have to know programming, Web or HTML programming knowledge.

The class will be taught by Jesús Carmona, doctoral student in the Management Information Systems concentration of the Ph.D. Program in International Business Administration at TAMIU. He is also an adjunct professor in the University’s department of MIS and decision science. He has an MS in information systems from TAMIU.
