Global Banking Focus of IBC Lecture at TAMIU Wednesday

Global banking and its implication on the Western Hemisphere will be the subject of the final 2007 International Bank of Commerce (IBC), Keynote Speaker Series lecture featuring Dr. William C. Gruben on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center (WHTC) room 111.

This event is free of charge and open to the public.

Dr. Gruben serves the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as a vice president, chief international economist and director of the Dallas Fed's Center for Latin American Economics.

Gruben holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He also worked as a research associate at the University's Institute for Latin America Studies and its Center for Economic Development. He has served on the faculty of economics at Southern Methodist University and also on the faculty of International Management Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas.

His research focuses on International Trade, International Capital Flows, currency regimes and banking-chiefly as these subjects apply to developing countries, in particular those from Latin America. He has published extensively on these topics in scholarly and technical journals.

This is the final speaker for the semester. The Series brings the University individuals of exceptional accomplishment and expertise that enhance the academic experience of TAMIU students, faculty, and the community.
