Java and Swing Seminar April 28 at TAMIU

Learn to add some excitement and activity to your Web site with “Introduction to User Interface Creation and Using Java and Swing,” a non-credit certificate course offered at Texas A&M International University Saturday, April 28 in Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall, room 219 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Seminar fee is $199 per person.

This course aims to show Java-knowledgeable individuals how to use the Java Swing API together with functionality from the Java API. Students will create a quick program and develop a graphical user interface application used by the students. Proper code formatting will be used and encouraged.

Main topics include: using the Texpad Editor; review of Java; various components of the Swing API; object serialization; and planning for an application.

Course instructor Javier Abud is a computer science graduate from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Abud holds a B.S.C. with a major in computer and information science, focusing on videogame programming. He is fluent in many programming languages—C, C++ and Java—and is working on creating a user interface editor using OpenGL.
