The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will be holding free weekly orientations on the “Art of Starting a Business” every Wednesday from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Laredo Development Foundation, 616 Leal Street. The first session will be held on June 6.

On the first Wednesday of the month, the orientation will be presented in Spanish.

The weekly orientations are ideal for those contemplating or starting their own business. This practical workshop will help those attending to avoid common pitfalls, evaluate strengths and weaknesses, and the skills needed to succeed. The orientations will explore the initial paperwork, the assessment process, legal structures and the business plan.

The first step on the road to starting a business is the feasibility study. This first step helps the prospective business owner determine the practicality and viability of the business idea.

A feasibility study provides  an indication of market opportunity and growth potential. Having such information is vital, before the potential business person risks valuable time and money.

The free of charge session will guide attendees through:

  • Choosing the Right Business
  • The Feasibility Study
  • Legal Structure Selection
  • Licenses and Permits
  • Business Plan
  • Financing Options.
To register for the free orientation sessions, call the TAMIU SBDC office at 956.326.2827, or e-mail sbdc@tamiu.edu
