Summer Kids Camps Start Monday at TAMIU

Send your kid to the University this summer. The Texas A&M International University Office of Special Programs is now accepting applications for its Youth Summer Camps 2007.

Camps will be available for children from Kinder to 11th grade and meet from June 4 – June 29.

“Kinder Camp,” for children ages 3 – 5 years, will meet from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Tuition is $300.

Subject areas covered include: “What do I get?” (math), “Weird Science!” science, “Open Your Mind, Imagine” (reading) and “Scribble, Scribble” (writing).

Children in first – sixth grade may choose from “Children’s Summer Workshop 2007” or Academic Camp.

“Children’s Summer Workshop 2007” will meet from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Tuition is $300.

Students may choose to attend three subject areas from the following: “Computer.edu,” “Krazy Krafts,” “Writing Adventures Publish a Book,” “What’s A Matter?” (science), art, paint and draw, “Figure it Out” (math), “Learn How to Play Chess,” explore reading and music appreciation.

Tuition is $300.

Students who attend Academic Camp will also meet from June 4 – June 29, but they will attend afternoon sessions, from 1 – 4 p.m.

Subject areas include: computers, sciences, crafts, publishing a book, fun physics, art and geography.

Tuition for the Academic Camp is $280.

The “Summer Academy,” open to students in seventh – 11th grade, offers two areas of study—PSAT/SAT prep courses and academic courses.

Students who attend the PSAT/SAT courses will meet from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Areas of study include math, English and writing.

Tuition is $350.

Students attending the academic courses will meet from 1 – 4 p.m.

Subjects include: art, science, creative writing, Web design, computers, rocket design and designing and creating a drag racer.

Tuition for the academic courses is $375 or $125/course.
