TAMIU SBDC Sets Trade Financing Seminar June 14

The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will hold a free-of charge seminar on international trade financing  Thursday, June 14, 2007  from 10 a.m. to noon at TAMIU’s Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 125.

One of the most important concerns in international business is being paid for the goods or services provided. This seminar is designed to provide businesses with the latest information on available export financing alternatives and international payment methods. 

This International Payments Seminar provides participants with an understanding of international payment methods, export financing programs, and management of foreign exchange risk.

Guest speaker Doug Smith from the South-West Texas Border Region SBDC International Trade Center will cover the following topics:

  • International Payment methods, including letters of credit, bank drafts, and other payment options
  • Overview of export financing programs, including SBA, Export-Import Bank loan and credit insurance programs
  • Overview of international risk, including credit risk, economic and political risk, and how to manage these risks
  • Foreign exchange risk, including options to minimize foreign exchange risk in order to be more competitive internationally.
