The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will sponsor a workshop, “Keeping the Books,” on Aug. 10, 2007 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Laredo Development Foundation Board Room, 616 Leal Street.

The $30 fee includes a workbook.

Despite a passion for new business, entrepreneurs won’t succeed without learning how to keep financial records in order. This workshop provides the simple principles that will help owners understand bookkeeping basics and set the stage for business success.

“Keeping the Books” provides a comprehensive hands-on tool that will help business owners:

  • Set up an effective bookkeeping system and keep the right records.
  • Prepare projected and historical financial statements that show where business is headed and where it stands at any given moment.
  • Analyze cash flow and develop important financial benchmarks with ease.
  • Maintain records required to prevent tax time disasters and maximize profits.
