SBDC Directors Meeting Here This Week

This week, 25 directors and regional staffs of the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) network of southwest Texas border operations will hold their quarterly meeting in Laredo Thursday, Aug. 2 and Friday, Aug. 3.

The meeting provides an opportunity for the various SBDC offices, include the newest, the Texas A&M International University SBDC, to complete training opportunities, network with other SBDC directors and explore operations, best practices and network updates.

Al Salgado, University of Texas at San Antonio South-West Texas Border SBDC Network state director, will welcome the group Thursday at La Posada Hotel at 7:45 a.m. Zaffirini Communications will offer a leadership training opportunity with “Great Tools for Great Leaders.”

Additional Thursday highlights will include a lunch at Texas A&M International University to celebrate the formal opening at 2 p.m. of the new TAMIU-SBDC office in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center.

Other activities for the day will include a best practices sharing exercise and an evening networking-teambuilding dinner at TAMIU's Casa Ortiz in downtown Laredo.

The Conference continues Friday morning with financial and operations updates, strategy development, new business initiatives, an SBA update, strategic plan team work and lunch.
