TAMIU Professor Represents TAMIU at National Convention

Texas A&M International University's Dr. Kathleen R. Pletsch De García, associate professor of English and Spanish was one of the attendees of the 2007 Phi Kappa Phi National Triennial Convention in Orlando, Fla. this past August. Attending the convention as a delegate, Pletsch De García is a member of the TAMIU Phi Kappa Phi chapter and has been since her induction into the society in 1994.

Attendees included 323 delegates, observers, guests, board members and Society headquarters office staff. The convention included presentations by Phi Kappa Phi's grant program award winners. The group collectively discussed ideas and inspirations at chapter sessions, reviewed Society business and elected a new board of directors.

TAMIU inducted the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in November 2005. Phi Kappa Phi is one of the nation's oldest and largest all-disciplinary honor societies. The society inducts 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni each year, now in more than 300 selected colleges and universities in North America and the Philippines. More than a million members have been initiated since its founding in 1897.
