Texas A&M International University officials are alerting the public that appointments for accepting passport applications through the University’s Division of International Programs passport services are fully booked until further notice.

“We realize that many people are interested in processing their applications, but at this time, our appointments are fully scheduled till further notice. First priority has been given to our own student population here.

“We would encourage persons to visit the government Web site at travel.state.gov to locate optional sites that may be able to assist them in the meantime. We will be unable to provide assistance at our offices,” said David VerMilyea, TAMIU director of International Student Services.

Beginning Oct. 1, airline passengers will once again need valid passports in order to travel between the US and Bermuda, the Caribbean, Canada and México, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

TAMIU has been able to accept passport applications on behalf of the U. S. Department of State since July of 2006.
