Agustín Lara's Music Celebrated with One-Man Show at TAMIU Saturday, Sept. 29

You don't want to miss a very special performance Simplemente Lara, a one-man show starring José Rubén De León at the Texas A&M International University Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall Saturday, September 29 at 7 p.m.

Admission is $5 for students, faculty and staff and $15 for adults.

Simplemente Lara illustrates the life and music of one of México's most renowned and prolific songwriters and composers, Agustín Lara.

Lara wrote unforgettable songs such as: "Solamente Una Vez," "María Bonita" and "Noche de Ronda."

De León an actor, playwright and vocalist, is an accomplished baritone vocalist, plays piano and writes music. This is the Laredo native's third time at TAMIU. He also appeared in a one-man show portraying the life of writer Federico García Lorca.

His training includes a B.A. in theater arts from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, American Music Theatre and The Young American Summer Theatre Workshop in Petoskey, Mich., and voice training with Courtney Slaughter Proffitt and Kathy Proffitt.
