New Art Exhibit, Reception Thursday at TAMIU

A chance to be among the first to see a new multi-media art exhibit and attend a reception will take place at Texas A&M International University's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Gallery Thursday, Oct. 18 from 5 - 8 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.

The installation, “Bon Voyage Monstromos De Pileon” by artist Richie Budd, will be on display through Nov. 29.

“My work takes its cues from Neuro-Linguist Programming, a communication model that borrows from behavioral psychology, hypnotism and transformational grammar among other models of effective communicating,” explains Budd in his artist's statement.

“My most recent pieces are multi-sensory sculpture/installation based on works that revolve around affecting the future memory of the viewer by creating an intense experience similar to a Significant Emotional Experience-any major fully associated, highly charged emotional events wherever it occurs,” he continued.

Budd says he purposefully uses objects and devices that directly affect the five senses so that later, when the viewer encounters one of a similar smell, sight, taste, sound and/or feeling, he or she will remember Budd's artwork.

The artist, who lives and works in San Antonio, received his M.F.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his B.F.A. from the University of North Texas. His work has been on exhibit in New York City, Houston, San Antonio and Denton, Texas.
