Sánchez Lecture Explores Einstein Tonight at TAMIU

Imagine Einstein in the 21st Century...that's what Dr. Alan Lightman will explore tonight at 7 p.m.  at the 2007-2008 A.R. Sánchez Sr. Distinguished Lecture Series in Texas A&M International University's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

The lecture is free of charge and open to the public.

Dr. Lightman is an accomplished novelist, essayist, physicist and professor and for over 20 years has taught physics and astronomy at Harvard University.  He is also an adjunct professor in the Writing and Humanistic Studies Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In 1981, Lightman began publishing essays about science, the human side of science, and the "mind of science," beginning with the Smithsonian Magazine followed by Science 82, The New Yorker, and many others. Since their launch, his essays, short fictions and reviews have continued to appear in numerous magazines and catalogs.

Published works include “The Discoveries: Great Breakthroughs in 20th-Century Science,” “Including the Original Papers,” “Einstein Dreams” and “The Diagnosis.”

In 1970, Lightman received his B.A. in physics from Princeton University, Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude, and his Ph.D. in theoretical physics in 1974 from the California Institute of Technology.
