The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU SBDC) will hold a hands-on workshop on “Quarterly and Year-End Reports” on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Laredo Development Foundation, 616 Leal Street. A $20 course fee will include workbook.

Business owners-employers have specific payroll responsibilities that are required by government agencies. These agencies can be federal, state or local. Some of these responsibilities include, but are not limited to, withholding amounts from employees’ compensation to cover income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and other payments.

This workshop is designed to help owners-employers become familiarized with basic concepts of payroll management.

Payroll is an essential business practice like sales and customer service. Incorrect withholdings or payroll tax filings can lead to government penalties.

There are literally hundreds of things to know, and an equal number of mistakes that can be made—making payroll a complicated component of successful business operation.

Topics to be covered:

  • Employment requirements
  • Pay requirements
  • Payroll calculation
  • Depositing taxes
  • Quarterly report preparation
  • Year end report preparation.

To register, call the TAMIU SBDC office at 956.326.2827, or e-mail sbdc@tamiu.edu

Office hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
