TAMIU Vocal Students in Concert Saturday

The lovely voices of applied voice students will delight audiences with classical songs at the Texas A&M International University Voice Studio Midterm Recital Saturday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall.

This event is free and open to the public.

“The voice students will be combining to perform a varied program of classical songs ranging from the Renaissance lute songs of John Dowland to American contemporary art song,” Dana Crabtree, instructor of music, explained.

“The texts for these songs will also cover a variety of languages such as Italian, German, French and English with printed translations provided for the foreign texts,” Crabtree added.

Piano accompaniment will be provided by piano students of Dr. Fritz Gechter, associate professor of music and piano, and Mariko Morita, visiting assistant professor of organ and accompanist.

The program includes early English and early Italian art songs, opera arias, art songs from the Romantic period, contemporary art songs and more.
