See old friends, tap your feet and have an exciting time at the Second Annual Band Extravaganza Concert at Texas A&M International University Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

This event is free and open to the public.

“Members of the first bands at TAMIU, which started in October 1997, will be recognized along with the very first band director appointed at TAMIU, Elmo López,” said Dr. Michael Stone, assistant professor and director of bands.

“The concert will feature the newly formed TAMIU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the band division's premier ensemble, performing ‘Lincolnshire Posy,’ by Percival Grainger. Following the Wind Ensemble's performance will be a presentation and recognition of all previous band students from the past 10 years. The entire gala affair will close with a rousing performance presented by the TAMIU ‘Fighting Dustdevil’ Band,” added Dr. Stone.

The evening’s program also includes music by Michael McDonald, John Philip Sousa and music from Cirque du Soleil.
