‘Guitarras de Navidad’ Strum Holidays to Sound Dec. 7

The sixth annual “Guitarras de Navidad” Christmas Guitar Concert returns to Texas A&M International University Friday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall. 

This event is free and open to the public.

The holiday program will feature the TAMIU Classical Guitar Ensemble, directed by Dr. Gilberto D. Soto, professor of music education/guitar.

Scheduled selections include the premiere of several new pieces, including the theme and first variation from the “Goldberg Variations” by J.S. Bach, Raga and Buleria by José Luís Narvaez, “Leyenda de España” by Agustín Barrios Mangore, “Blackbird” and “Lady Madonna” from John Lennon/Paul McCartney.

The Ensemble is comprised of the University's College of Arts and Sciences, department of fine and performing arts students who share experience in reading and performing guitar literature for small instrumental ensembles.
