This event is free and open to the public.

The program for the evening includes music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frank Speller, Sir George Thalben-Ball and Marcel Dupré.

Dr. Dykstra is currently the organist at Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas, and has been a featured soloist on the Great Organ Series at The University of Texas at Austin, the American Guild of Organists Region VII Convention, Truro, Bristol and Southwark Cathedrals, St. Mary Redcliffe and Oxford Town Hall in England, historic St. Thomas Fifth Avenue in New York City, Shorter College in Rome, Georgia, St. Philip’s Cathedral, Atlanta, and Trinity Copley Square in Boston. Currently associated with the Texas Choral Consort, she toured Germany and Austria with the group in March 2004.

Dykstra is a published composer and author of the soon-to-be-released book “Deducing The Original Sounds of Bach’s Organ Works:  An Historical Account of the Musical Capabilities of the Organs That Bach Knew.”

She received degrees in organ performance from Midwestern State University and The University of Texas at Austin.

The Sharkey-Corrigan Organ was a gift of the E. H. Corrigan Foundation, lead by longtime Laredo businessman E. H. Corrigan, passionate supporter of the arts. Corrigan has said his gift is a statement of an affection for his hometown and intended to provide this area with one of the finest pipe organs, making real its musical riches for generations to come.
