Local and area students, especially high school juniors and seniors, and their parents, are invited to Texas A&M International University's (TAMIU) Preview Day Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Student Center.

Registration starts at 10 a.m. in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 111.

Preview Day is an opportunity for students and their parents to visit TAMIU and find out what TAMIU has to offer.

This event is free of charge and everyone is invited.

Participants can get the inside scoop on scholarships, explore University life and modern campus living, inquire about financial aid assistance, meet with professors in mock classes, ask about different majors and much more.

"Students will be able to choose one area, business, education or nursing and we're going to ask the professors to do a first day of class-give them a syllabus and a small lecture. This will give the students an idea of what to expect when they get here," said Gina De La Miyar González, director, office of recruitment and school relations.

Information about University such as admissions, financial aid and housing will be available throughout the event. González said unique parent/student panels will provide opportunities for discussion.

"There will be a student and parent panel. In the parent panel parents will have the opportunity to ask TAMIU parents and students about their experiences or any other concerns they may have," she said.

For more information, contact González at 956.326.2270, visit offices at Student Center 126, or e-mail enroll@tamiu.edu  A special web-based student-led tour of the campus is available at http://www.tamiu.edu/videos/
