The first Laredo Small Business Forum will be hosted by Texas A&M International University's Small Business Development Center on Monday, Nov. 19.

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuéllar will be the keynote speaker for the event that will take place from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the University's Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 116.

Richard Pérez, TAMIU-SBDC director, said the event serves as an ideal opportunity for small business owner-operators to meet and dialogue about common concerns.

"The SBDC is the natural host for events that provide small business owner-operators with an opportunity to network and work towards solutions for shared concerns or problems.  We are happy to host this luncheon event and to welcome our Congressman as keynote speaker, and invite all of our local small business community to join us," Pérez said.

Congressman Cuéllar said he is pleased to be part of the important initiative.

"Small businesses are a major driving force of the economic growth in this country. They account for approximately 99.7% of all employers in the United States and the nearly 23 million small businesses provide three-fourths of new jobs added to the economy," said Cuéllar, "I congratulate the TAMIU Small Development Center for its continued support of small businesses."

Those interested in attending should RSVP by Wednesday, Nov. 14 to 326.2827 or e-mail acovarrubias@tamiu.edu
