Learn How to Create a Successful Web Site at TAMIU, Dec. 1

Unravel the mysteries of the Internet and learn how to build and market a successful Web site with a class offered at Texas A&M International University Saturday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. in Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall, room 211.

Registration is currently underway. Tuition is $199 per person or $149 for TAMIU employees, students and alumni.

This non-credit course, offered by the College of Business Administration's division of international business, will show participants how to improve and expand their business by using the Internet. Learn strategies, business models and industry standards that make a professional Web site. More importantly, participants will understand what it takes to make their site and their business stand out.

This course is geared toward entrepreneurs, administrators and business professionals who want to learn about Internet marketing. No previous Web experience is necessary. Participants will learn how to get the necessary resources to establish a commanding and beneficial presence on the Web.

Main topics covered include:

  • Planning and organizing the site
  • Revenue and advertising
  • Checking site for maximum performance
  • Developing and understanding the brand,
  • Making the site stand out
  • Collecting e-mail addresses
  • Marketing strategies for Web sites
  • Public relations and non-traditional promotions
  • Directing traffic to the site
  • Customer services and pulling it together.

The course will be taught by Hugo Luís García, a full-time MIS/DS instructor at the University. He has designed and implemented both networking and customized application solutions for several businesses. García has a master's degree in information systems.
