For the second year in a row, the Texas A&M International University “Fighting Dustdevil” Marching Band has taken first place in the 25th Annual Candlelight Posada Parade in McAllen, Texas.

TAMIU was the recipient of the “Little Drummer Boy” Trophy, which is awarded to the best marching band. More than 20 bands competed.

The TAMIU Marching Band also received a $200 cash award for the band’s scholarship fund.

TAMIU senior Jason Archer, low brass section leader for the Band, wrote the winning marching drill.

The Band performed in the parade last year, winning first place for originality and second place for creativity.  This year was the first time all the categories were combined and a cash prize awarded.
