Young Dancer Christmas Recital at TAMIU Friday

In a month full of professional and student performances, dancers ages two – 60 years young have been busy learning new dances and techniques as part of Texas A&M International University’s Young Dancer Program. See the results of their hard work at TAMIU’s 2007 Young Dancer Christmas Program, Friday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall.

Admission to the event is free of charge, thanks to the support of TAMIU’s College of Arts and Sciences’ department of fine and performing arts.

Highlights from the program include “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “Jingle Bells,” “Skating,” “Little St. Nick,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Deck the Halls,” “Christmas in California,” “Carol of the Bells,” Peces in el Río” and “Feliz Navidad.”

The songs will be performed to a variety of different types of dances from pointe, ballet, jazz, hip hop to flamenco.

The Young Dancer Program is a community-based program that holds classes from September-May, offering children ages two to 11 a combination class including ballet, tap and Spanish dance and Teen/Adult classes in ballet, tap, jazz and Spanish dance.
