Registration On for Community Dance Classes at TAMIU

This New Year, dance your way to a healthier body or enjoy the benefits of yoga with dance classes offered by Texas A&M International University’s 2008 Young Dancers Program. If dancing or yoga positions are a bit intimidating, try releasing your inner Shakira with the newest class offering—belly dance/Tahitian dance.

Classes are underway. Register soon; spaces are still available.

Children’s Classes offer a combination of ballet, tap and flamenco for kids from two – 10 years and meet once a week from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Children from eight – 10 meet Mondays; six – eight year olds meet Tuesdays; two – four year olds meet Wednesdays; four – six year olds meet Thursdays.

Tuition is $40 a month, but a $10 discount applies when the session is paid in full at the start of the session and a $5 monthly discount applies to multiple siblings registered in the dance classes.

Children will be required to purchase a uniform leotard (special order), pink tights, pink ballet shoes, tap shoes, castanets, Spanish shoes and a skirt.

Teens and adults may sign up for Teen/Adult Technique Classes in ballet, pointe, beginner or intermediate/advanced flamenco, yoga, belly dance/Tahitian dance, jazz or hip-hop.

On Mondays, ballet meets from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.; pointe class meets from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Flamenco classes meet on Tuesdays: beginners from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and intermediate/advanced from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Classes meet in CFPA 122.

Yoga class and belly dance/Tahitian dance class meet on Wednesdays from 7 – 8 p.m. Yoga meets in CFPA 123 and belly/Tahitian dance meets in CFPA 122.

Jazz class is scheduled for Thursdays from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. and hip-hop is also on Thursday, but meets from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Classes meet in CFPA 122.

Tuition for the Teen/Adult Technique Classes is $35/month for one class a week. Tuition for two classes a week is $45/month. Three classes a week is $55/month. For every additional class, tuition is $10 more.

The $10 discount for classes paid in full at the start of the session also applies to the Teen/Adult Classes.
