For centuries, man has looked to the heavens for clues that might tell us whether or not we are alone in the universe. A new feature at the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium, “Extreme Planets,” helps audiences understand what we do know is out there.

“Extreme Planets” opens to the public Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. An encore is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.

General admission is $5 and $4 for children, senior citizens, TAMIU students, alumni and employees.

The Clark Planetarium original production explores what makes a planet "Earth-like" and takes audiences on an immersive full-dome tour of several worlds that just might fit those conditions. Also on the tour are water worlds, molten landscapes, inhabitable moons and planets with multiple suns-exotic worlds that no longer exist only in science fiction.

“Extreme Planets” was written by Ray Dillard, news director at the Space Telescope Science Institute and author of the popular new book, “Infinite Worlds.” Noted actor, Rene Auberjonois (Odo on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and Clayton Endicott III on “Benson”) narrates “Extreme Planets.”
