Design engineer and digital pioneer Dr. Natalie Jeremijenko will present “Wonderful World of Digital Engineering” at the next Texas A&M International University A.R. Sánchez, Sr. Distinguished Lecture Series Tuesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

This event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Jeremijenko is a new media artist who works at the intersection of contemporary art, science and engineering. Her lecture will address information politics, examination and development of new modes of information technologies, in particular the production of knowledge, tangible media and distributed computing elements.

Her work takes the form of large-scale public art works, tangible media installations, single channel tapes and critical writing. It investigates the theme of the transformative potential of new technologies—particularly information technologies.

Jeremijenko, former lecturer in the department of mechanical engineering at Yale, was also a consultant to the Advanced Computer Graphics Center/Media Research Lab, department of computer science at New York University and Distinguished Visiting Critic in the department of art, Virginia Commonwealth University.

Conceived by A. R. Sanchez Jr., the A. R. Sánchez, Sr. Distinguished Lecture Series has attracted national and internationally known scholars to TAMIU. Lecturers have ranged from Nobel laureates and prominent political figures to some of the most gifted world scientists and award-winning authors and artists. Last September marked the 10th Anniversary of the Sánchez Lecture Series.
