TAMIU Non-Profit Program Offers Training March 6

Registration is now underway for the second training offered by the Texas A&M International University Texas Center for Border Economics and Enterprise Development (TCBEED) Program for Non-Profit Excellence. “Understanding Non-Profit Financials” is scheduled for Thursday, March 6 from 8:30 11:30 a.m. at the TAMIU Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 116.

A continental breakfast will be available from 8:30 – 9 a.m.

Fee for the training is $50, but participants who register before March 6 will receive a 30 percent discount.

Topics covered in this training session include: objectives of financial audits, sources and content of generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS), types of audit reports that may be rendered, contrast between an unqualified and qualified audit report, materiality, forms for non-profit organizations, reports, and the implications of Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 on government and non-profit organizations.

Jesus Amezcua, TAMIU accounting instructor, will lead the discussions.

The Program for Non-Profit Excellence is a certificate core curriculum that provides professional development training for the more than 440 non-profit tax-exempt organizations in the area.
