Course Creating Databases with Microsoft Access Offered by TAMIU

Learn how to enter, store and manipulate data through a database created with Microsoft Access will be the subject of a non-credit course at Texas A&M International University Saturday, March 29 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Registration is underway. Tuition is $199/participant and $149 for TAMIU employees, students and alumni.

This non-credit course is designed for business professionals with no database background. Students will have the opportunity to create databases from scratch, including database design, an introduction to SQL ( a query language to extract data), as well as form and report creation. Plenty of hands-on examples will be provided in this course to expose students to real-life situations with solutions using Microsoft Access, a database software designed to create databases, queries, forms and reports.

This course is geared toward managers, business professionals, entrepreneurs seeking to use Microsoft Access in the most efficient way for day-to-day business tasks. Students may also want to take the course to learn basic database design and use.

Main topics will include introduction to database design, databases and Access, relational databases and design essentials, creating databases with Access, enforcing database rules using Access, creating databases using Access, asking questions with SQL, creating forms with Access and programming essential with access.

The course, offered by the TAMIU College of Business Administration division of international business, will be taught by Jesus Carmona, doctoral student in the MISD Concentration of the Ph.D. Program in International Business Administration at TAMIU. He is also an adjunct professor in the University’s Division of International Business and Technology Studies.
