‘Jazz Under the Stars’ at TAMIU Saturday

Listen to jazz performed live while sitting under the heavens at “Jazz Under the Stars” at the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara PlanetariumSaturday, March 29 at 7 p.m.

Admission is $10 per person and $15 for couples.

Local jazz duo, Ambient Jazz Duo (AJD), comprised of Dr. Michael Yoder, TAMIU associate professor of geography, on bass and Rogelio Montemayor on trumpet, play medium swing, bossa novas, ballads and original compositions by Dr. Yoder.

“The Chord-less Duo will perform jazz music live for an hour under the projection of different nebulas, supernovas and other beautiful space photographs in full dome as well as amazing 3D effects,” said Laura C. Jimenez, associate director, TAMIU LBV Planetarium.

This unique experience adds a new twist to the current music shows on the schedule.

The TAMIU LBV Planetarium has one of the few next generation digital projectors that allows views not only from earth, but also from any part of the known universe. The Digistar 3 projectors use powerful graphics hardware and software to generate immersive full-dome images on the interior surface of the LBV Planetarium’s dome, integrating all-dome video, real time 3D computer graphics and a complete digital astronomy package.
