Kids’ Nite Coming to Planetarium Friday at TAMIU

Take your children to the moon and beyond at the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium’s Kids Night Friday, April 25 from 5 – 7:30 p.m.

Children will receive free admission with each paid adult admission. Limit two children per family.

“We will be showing two of our most popular children’s shows—‘The Secret of the Cardboard Rock’ at 6 p.m. and ‘The Zula Patrol’ at 7 p.m.,” said Laura Jimenez, associate director, LBV Planetarium.

“Children will also have the opportunity to find out what they would look like in an astronaut suit with our astronaut photo opportunity. We encourage parents to bring their cameras to take pictures, but we will also be selling framed pictures for $1.50,” added Jimenez.

“The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket” chronicles the adventures of two very imaginative children as they explore the solar system with the help of a talking library book. The children travel in a large cardboard box to Jupiter, through the rings of Saturn, Venus, the Moon, Mars and Pluto and fly past Mercury, Uranus and Neptune.

“Zula Patrol: Under the Weather” follows a group of animated aliens collecting samples of weather on Zula using their loyal pet Gorga’s ability to collect and bottle all kinds of weather. When they inadvertently hurt Gorga’s feelings, Gorga decides to leave the group and falls for interplanetary villain Dark Truder’s tricks. The Zula Patrol find out and chase him all the way to Earth—in the process they learn all about the weather, both terrestrial and interplanetary.

General admission for adults is $5 and $4 for TAMIU students, faculty and staff.
