It’s not just you.

Drive around Laredo and mushrooming population growth is everywhere.

Find out all about Texas’ population growth and change at The 2008 Colloquium “Population Change in Texas: Implications for Human and Socioeconomic Resources in the 21st Century” Thursday, April 17 from 3 – 4 p.m. in the TAMIU Lamar Bruni Vergara Science Center, room 102.
This event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Jerome Keating, Peter T. Flawn Professor, chair of demographics, University of Texas-San Antonio, will present the lecture, sponsored by the TAMIU College of Arts and Sciences Department of Mathematical and Physical Science.

In his lecture, Dr. Keating will discuss population growth in, migration within and immigration to Texas and immigration over the next 40 years.

Keating maintains that the population of Texas will soon become predominantly Latino. He argues that changes need to be made to reposition the state’s workforce among the best in the country. Otherwise, the technical expertise of the Texas workforce may fall to the bottom of the 50 by 2050.
