TAMIU Launches Undergraduate Honors Awards

On Saturday, April 19, 2008, Texas A&M International University hosted its first Undergraduate Academic Honors Convocation in its Center for the Fine and Performing Arts’ Recital Hall.
In order to receive the prestigious University medial, students must complete between 30 and 90 hours, take an average of 12 hours each long semester, and maintain a cumulative 3.5 Grade Point Average.

Andres Olivarez, a former TAMIU TexPREP program student and current engineer for NASA in Houston, was keynote speaker.

Student Speakers were Debbie Hernández of the College of Arts and Sciences, Ricky Hernández of the College of Education and Sylvia Hinojosa of the College of Business Administration.

Students were provided their medal by a TAMIU faculty member they had identified as pivotal to their educational success.
