TAMIU Registration Underway for Summer Academic, Activity Camps

Texas A&M International University offers a variety of children’s summer academics or fun camp activities at the University. The camps feature subjects such as math, physics, writing, Spanish and also crafts, theater arts and others.

The TAMIU Office of Special Programs is now accepting applications for its Youth Summer Camps 2008. Camps will be available for children from K to 11th grade and meet from Monday, June 2 to Thursday, July 3.

“The Kinder Camp,” for children ages 3 to 5, will be held June 2 to July 3 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday through Friday. Subject areas include: What do I get? (math), Weird Science! (science), Open Your Mind, Imagine (reading) and Scribble, Scribble! (writing). Tuition is $375.

“Children’s Summer Workshop,” designed for grades 1 through 6, will be held from June 2 through July 3 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Students may choose to attend three subject areas from the following: Go Hollywood, math, physics, Weird Science, Computer Madness, Krazy Arts and Crafts, music and español. Tuition is $375.

Academic Camp, for grades 1 through 6 will be held from Monday, June 2 through Thursday, July 3 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Students may choose to attend three subject areas from the following: Go Hollywood, math, physics, Weird Science, Computer Madness, Krazy Arts and Crafts, music and español. Tuition is $300.

Summer Activity Camp is for children in grades 7 through 11 and will be held from June 2-27, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for PSAT and SAT courses and 1 - 4 p.m. for academic courses. Tuition is $375 for the PSAT and SAT course and $375 for the Academic Courses. SAT and PSAT courses include Writing, math I-IV and English I-IV. Academic Courses include art, Web, computer, science, college prep and math I through IV. The camp consists of 30 hours of instruction per week with a total of 120 hours for the four weeks.

New to TAMIU Youth Summer 2008 Camps is Robotics Camp for grades 6 through 8. Through the course, students will design their own robots and watch them come to life. The course seeks to build science, engineering and technology skills. Schedule and courses are to be announced.
All classes are subject to cancellation.
