Texas A&M International University will host student affairs professionals from around the state at the 18th Annual Texas A&M University System Student Affairs Symposium Wednesday, May 14 – Friday, May 16.

Student affairs professionals will be at TAMIU to network and learn the latest trends in student affairs.
Every year, student affairs professionals from around the A&M System merge on one campus to network and share ideas with their counterparts. TAMIU previously hosted the Symposium 10 years ago.

This year’s Symposium focus will be “Beyond Borders: Bridging the Gaps.” The Symposium will target key areas in student affairs and aim to eliminate age gaps, communication gaps and gender gaps while bridging the virtual world with the real world.

Attendees will bridge the communication gaps by learning how to utilize the latest technology. The Learning Reconsidered (a holistic approach to learning) workshop and other sessions will bridge gaps between academics and student affairs.

Students from the Chancellor’s Student Advisory Board will also attend the Symposium. Each campus sends two representatives who receive training for the upcoming year.

The Texas A&M University System is one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a statewide network of nine universities, seven state agencies and a comprehensive health science center. It educates more than 105,000 students each year.
