Take a trip into the sky without leaving the ground at the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium’s Family Day Saturday, June 14.

This event is free and open to the public.

“We will show families how to read a star map to find constellations and other visible objects in the night sky,” said Laura C. Jimenez, associate director, LBV Planetarium.

“Objects in the sky have inspired people throughout the ages. We will look at the sky, the stars and the patterns they make and we will talk about the descriptions of the role of several constellations in various cultures,” Jimenez explained.

The event starts at 8 p.m., weather permitting.

“Though the best instrument for stargazing are our own eyes, we will have the LBV Planetarium’s telescopes on site. Families are also welcome to bring their own,” added Jimenez.
