A Seminar to help business owners who deal with difficult people will be held Thursday, July 31, 2008, from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Texas A&M International University’s Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 116 by the TAMIU-Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC).

Seminar registration fee is $30. Those registering and paying prior to July 28 receive a $5 discount.

Is there a “Winnie the Whiner” work in your company? Maybe a “No Way Ned” or the popular “Passive Patti”? For the first time in history there are four generations in the workplace…all with a strong emphasis on individuality.

How do you deal with all the differences? Do you know what your communication style is? Do you think about the communication style of others?

This Seminar identifies unwanted behaviors and describes different styles of communication offering strategies to turn conflict into cooperation.

The Seminar will cover:

  • How we got here – generations and expectations
  • Who are the difficult people?
  • What’s your style?
  • What’s their style?
  • Strategies - blending, redirecting listening, trying it out.

To register, call the TAMIU-SBDC office at 956.326.2827, e-mail sbdc@tamiu.edu or register online at sbdc.tamiu.edu

Office hours are from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
