Texas A&M International University’s A. R. Sanchez Jr. School of Business is an outstanding business school, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features the Sanchez School of Business in its 2009 edition of its “Best 296 Business Schools” (Random House / Princeton Review).

The School of Business was listed in the Top Ten of “Best 296 Business Schools” for offering the greatest opportunity for minority students with a ranking of seven.

Robert Franek, Princeton Review vice president for publishing, said the selection reflects data collected from schools and the opinions of students who attend them.

"We select schools for this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools, and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools. We are pleased to recommend the Sanchez School of Business to readers of our book and users of our website as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA," Franek said.

“Best 296 Business Schools” has two-page profiles of the schools including their academics, student life and admissions, plus ratings for their academics, selectivity and career placement services.

In the profile on the Sanchez School, the Princeton Review editors describe the school as: “dedicated to the delivery of a high-quality professional and internationalized education to a graduate student population drawn from a wide variety of countries and cultures. “

They quote from students attending it who say, "teachers are very good and highly cooperative, with great academic ability. They have the knowledge to impart, help the students, and offer their valuable suggestions to guide their further course of action."

In a "Survey Says. . ." sidebar in the profile, The Princeton Review lists topics that Sanchez School students it surveyed for the book were in most agreement about. The list includes: "cutting edge classes," happy students," and “solid preparation in finance, general management and teamwork.”

The Princeton Review's 80-question survey asked students about themselves, their career plans, and their schools’ academics, student body and campus life.

Dr. Jacky So, dean of the Sanchez School of Business, said the Princeton Review’s survey and ranking is further validation of the School’s continued growth and development.

“This recognition is a natural extension of the benefits the School has been accorded through profound donor support like that provided by A. R. “Tony” Sanchez Jr., an outstanding and dedicated faculty with global expertise and a multi-faceted, dynamic and engaged student body. We are honored to be recognized and look forward to continuing to earn this and other recognitions,” Dr. So said.

The Princeton Review does not rank the schools in the book on a single hierarchical list from 1 to 296, or name one business school best overall. Instead, the book has 11 ranking lists of the top 10 business schools in various categories.

Ten lists, including the Sanchez School’s listing as a Great Opportunity for Minority Students, are based on The Princeton Review's surveys of 19,000 students attending the 296 business schools profiled in the book.

The book is one of nearly 200 Princeton Review titles published by Random House. The line includes annual guides to the best law schools and medical schools, plus guides to grad school admission exams and application essays. The Princeton Review is also known for its college and career guidebooks, its test-prep courses and other education services. The company is not affiliated with Princeton University and it is not a magazine.
