TAMIU Ballet Folklórico Performs in Detroit

The Texas A&M International University Ballet Folklórico set off to Detroit, Mich., where they will perform at three separate events from Nov. 13 to Nov. 14.

The TAMIU Ballet Folklórico group is made up of 15 TAMIU students along with Sandra E. Leal, director of the Ballet Folklórico.

The TAMIU Ballet Folklórico will perform 17 different Mexican ballet styles of dance from various regions in México such as Chihuahua, Jalisco, Veracruz, and Mexico City.

While in Detroit, the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico will perform at LaSED, a senior citizen organization, followed by a performance at Wayne State University. At Wayne State University, the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico will perform 17 dances for WSU community.

The group will get a chance to sightsee before their performance at the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation Gala.

The TAMIU Dean of Student Success Office, Detroit Hispanic Development organization, Center for Chicano and Boricua Studies and El Comal Restaurant, sponsored the trip.
