Hear works by Bach, Schumann and Chopin performed at the Texas A&M International University Fall Piano Student Recital Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall.

This event is free and open to the public.

“The recital will showcase students from my University piano studio. These are students who are majoring in music and whose primary instrument is piano,” said Dr. Fritz Gechter, associate professor of music and piano.

“Students will perform solo and duet repertoire spanning from the Baroque to the Contemporary eras. Highlights include work by Bach, Schumann and Chopin and a few holiday favorites,” said Dr. Gechter.

The recital also includes guest performances by students from Gechter’s private studio.
These piano recitals occur toward the end of every semester and give students the opportunity to perform in front of family, friends and anyone who enjoys listening to classical piano music. Students interested in majoring in music at TAMIU must first audition in front of three members of the music faculty.

Prospective students should contact the TAMIU College of Arts and Sciences,’ Department of Fine and Performing Arts office at 326.2654 for more information about becoming a music major. Any students interested in specifically studying piano with Gechter may contact him at 326.2639 to set up an audition.
