TAMIU-SBDC Begins Management Certification Jan. 21

The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will kick off its Small Business Management Certificate Program Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009.

The Small Business Management Program is designed for the aspiring entrepreneur or existing business owners. Its goal is to provide essential business tools. Program completion will enhance management skills and provide a good foundation for success.

Requirements for completing the program include: a one-time enrollment fee of $35, attending the required 11 courses and completing two on-line courses within six months of starting the program and scheduling an advising appointment with an SBDC-certified business advisor.

Upon completion of the program, a reception will be held in honor of the participants. Each will receive a Certificate of Completion recognizing their accomplishment.

The Small Business Management Program is valued at $230; those enrolling now will only pay the enrollment fee.

The first course of the program, “The Art of Starting a Business: Basic Business Essentials,” starts Jan. 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the TAMIU Student Center, room 120.

University offices will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 23 and reopen Monday, Jan. 5.

Spring 2009 registration is underway at tamiu.edu throughout the holidays. Classes begin Monday, Jan. 12, 2009.
