TAMIU Steinway Recital Series Features Lee Friday

The Texas A&M International University Steinway Recital Series will continue with a performance by prize-winning TAMIU pianist Dr. Mieun Lee, Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

The event is free and open to the public.

The performance will include works by Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Robert Schumann.

A native of South Korea, Dr. Lee holds degrees in piano performance from Seoul National University in South Korea and a Master of Music and a Doctorate of Music Art from the University of Texas at Austin, with honors, where she has served as an academic assistant. She was awarded the Outstanding Doctor of Musical Arts Lecture when she graduated from UT.

Lee has appeared in concerts in the United States as well as South Korea. Passionate about solo and collaborative piano performance, she has extensive experience as soloist, chamber musician, accompanist and solo pianist with orchestras.

Lee is the prizewinner of several competitions including the Wood Concerto Competition, the University of Texas (UT) Concerto Competition, the BMC Piano Competition, and the Sydney M. Wright Accompanying Competition.

She has also received various scholarships and fellowships including the Zimmerli Foundation Scholarship, the Music Various Donors Scholarship, the Mollie Fitzhugh Thornton Scholarship in Music, the Korean T&G Scholarship, the Seoul National University Scholarship and Travel Awards.
Since Fall 2008, Lee has been serving as visiting assistant professor of Collaborative Piano at TAMIU.
