TAMIU-SBDC Offers Three-Part Web Training Series Feb. 1

The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will present a series of three workshops on how to create a Web site, beginning Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.

The hands-on workshops will be held at TAMIU. Classroom location will be provided with registration confirmation. Fee is $20 for each session.

Web pages aren't just for geeks anymore. Today’s businesses often incorporate a presence on the World Wide Web. This workshop teach business owners understand the difference between HTML and H2O and browsers and Bowser.

This hands-on workshop series spans the entire process of building a simple Web site from the ground up, with plenty of pointers and reference material.

Alejandro Quetzeri, who has 10 years of experience in building Web sites and is owner of WSI Certified Internet Consultants, will lead the series described below:

Part I. Internet Basics – Feb. 13
What is the Internet? Uses of the Internet; What is WWW-World Wide Web? About Google, Yahoo, MSN – search engines; What is e-mail?
Domain names; and creating your own domain name.

Part II. Creating a Basic Web site – Feb. 20
Home page; graphics; about us; product and services; contact us.

Part III. Promoting your Web site – Feb. 27
Traditional marketing versus Internet marketing; basics of Internet marketing; Web analytics; search engine optimization; pay per click and sponsor ads.
