The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will sponsor “Keeping the Books: Recordkeeping Basics for your Small Business,” a workshop, this Friday, March 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at TAMIU’s Western Hemispheric Trade Center room 116.

Despite a burning passion for a new business, many entrepreneurs don’t succeed unless they learn to keep financial records in order. This workshop will provide simple principles to help attendees understand bookkeeping basics and set the stage for success.

“Keeping the Books” provides a comprehensive hands-on tool that will help:

  • Set up an effective bookkeeping system and keep the right records.
  • Prepare projected and historical financial statements that show where a business is headed and where it stands at any given moment.
  • Analyze cash flow and develop important financial benchmarks with ease.
  • Maintain records required to prevent tax time disasters and maximize profits.

The $20 fee will include Laura Pinzon’s 7th Edition of “Keeping the Books: Basic Recordkeeping and Accounting for the Successful Small Business,” a $50 value.

To register for the workshop, call the TAMIU-SBDC office at 956.326.2827 or register online at sbdc.tamiu.edu

TAMIU-SBDC hours are from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
