April 24 Brings Personal Finance Management Course to TAMIU

Learn the basics of investing with a non-credit certificate course, “Personal Finance Management,” at Texas A&M International University’s Western Hemispheric Trade Center 104 on Friday, April 24 from 7 – 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Course fee is $250 and $200 for TAMIU employees, students and alumni.

The course, offered by the University’s A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Division of International Business, will be taught by Dr. Andres Rivas, TAMIU assistant professor of finance and economics. His research interests include finance, banking, REITS and emerging markets. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in International Business from the University of Texas-Pan American.

Main topics covered in this course include basics of investing, getting started in investing, types of investing, basic investment concepts and strategies and investment tips.

This high-impact seminar will explore and discuss four essential components of building a successful investment plan. The course is especially helpful for anyone who is planning for retirement, looking to buy a new home, seeking to resolve credit card debt or start a college fund.
