Spring is in the air and that means the Texas A&M International University dance students are preparing for the 2009 Spring Dance Concert on Friday, April 17 at 8 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall.

Admission is $5 and open to the public. Children 10 and younger receive free admission.

“Additional ‘excitement’ at the performance will be the announcement of the recipients of the 2009 Terpsichorean Award, 2009 Blanche Flores Leyendecker Scholarship as well as the announcement of the first endowed scholarship in dance—the Valeria M. Hernández Scholarship,” said Bede Leyendecker, chair, Department of Fine and Performing Arts.

The annual concert will feature performances by the Department of Fine and Performing Arts dance students. They will perform dances from various genres including ballet, tap, jazz, modern and flamenco, some of which were choreographed by students.

For a recorded list of upcoming arts events, call 326-ARTS.
