TAMIU Offers THEA Workshops This June

Students preparing for the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) exam can take advantage of THEA workshops offered by the Texas A&M International University Center for the Advancement of Scholastic Achievement (CASA) and Writing Center.

The workshops are $25 each. Registration fee includes a free Compass test. The event is open to all TAMIU and eligible high school students. Space is limited.

The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10 – Math: Fundamentals of Math, Algebra, Geometry and Problem-Solving, 9 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., Dr. Billy F. Cowart Hall, room 205.

Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10 – Reading: Inference, Generalization and Main Idea, 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. - 5 p.m., Dr. Billy F. Cowart Hall, room 205.

Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12 – Writing: Essay Tips and Grammar Tricks, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., Dr. Billy F. Cowart Hall, room 203.

The THEA is designed to provide information about the reading, mathematics and writing skills of student entering public colleges, universities and educator preparation programs in public and private institutions. The THEA replaced the former Texas Assessment Skills Program (TASP).
